Pepaw?

Walking by the Shreeji bodega yesterday morning, I saw that the sign fronting on 1st Place was down and an outline of an old sign was visible. Anyone got any idea what "Pepaw" is? A family name, perhaps?

  1. I noticed this too. I don't know what PePaws is or was, but it's a great lettering style. I really miss the sign which (hopefully) is still under the new orange hooded sign on the Court St side. It was an old hand painted one if I remember right.

  2. Pepaw was a very similar store to what is there now only they had video games and pinball and the counter was not where its located now. i got very nostalgic when i saw the old lettering . i believe the original sign was red and yellow i was probably 13 when it went away .

  3. I am not sure what "Pepaw" means, but I can tell you that the sign went up in the late 1970's......when the "Dutchess" bough took over the store.... before that it was call Sergi's Candy Store.......Pete Sergi died along time ago....
