The Gowanus Canal Conservancy will be hosting the first annual "Gowanus a Go Go" benefit concert. Gowanus a Go Go will feature some of the best bands of the New York City music scene, bringing them together to play at The Bell House in the Gowanus Canal district. All proceeds from the concert will go to the Gowanus Canal Conservancy, a non-profit organization founded in 2006, dedicated to the preservation, restoration and smart growth of the Gowanus Canal and its environs for the greater good of the community, to continue their ongoing work on the canal and the greater Gowanus neighborhood.

Hmmm...The Gowanus Conservancy has a good name, but they are not what they seem. The former head of the Conservancy was all for Toll Bros. project. even lamenting that it could have been higher (more than 12 stories). This group green-washes residential development agenda.
ReplyDeleteHow is that "green-washing"? Is anyone who favors residential development (I don't, but still) a green-washer? Is anyone who is "for" Toll Bros., whatever that means, a green-washer?
