I'm not surprised there was a mugging in that subway. The exit from the station at Carroll is dangerous. It's been blocked off for EVER to accommodate the obscene construction project at 360 Smith Street. There is now only one entrance/exit at the Second Place end and you have to walk around a corner and through a short tunnel which is completely blind. The station agent can't see you there nor can anyone see you while coming into the entrance.
ReplyDeleteA fire would be worse. The stairway is so narrow and it's often backed up now that it's the only way in/out. I guess high-rise luxury condos getting built are more important than safety.
Actually, the developer owns the subway entrance, so I'm ok with it being blocked off. It's a lot safer than walking through a construction site!

ReplyDeleteSorry to burst your collective bubbles, but according to the paper, this happened at the President Street exit.
ReplyDeleteI know that, but I go out that way now even though it's farther from my house, because the other exit seems so UNsafe! I wouldn't use that exit if 2nd place wasn't blocked off the way it is.
